Step 2: Find both points on the right leg

Treatment for
 Right Flank Pain

GB 34 is the primary acupressure point for treating rib-side or flank pain.  Find GB 34 below the LEFT knee on the outside the leg. Find the knob 2" below the knee joint on the side of the leg (head of the fibula) and slide down just below and slightly in front of that knob.

Find the Lower 3 Yellows point on the LEFT inner thigh in the muscle below the bone about one hand width up from the knee.

Step 3: Scroll down and press the points in all 3 areas for relief
Locate and press the most sensitive spot in each area.  Press these spots deep enough to feel an achy sensation.  If you need to press harder use your thumb or (if your have long finger nails) try the blunt end of an ink pen.

1. Use your thumb to press GB 34 on the outside of  the LEFT leg for about a minute
while taking 3 or 4 DEEP, SLOW breaths.
Left Leg
2. Press on the LEFT thigh for about a minute while taking 3 or 4 DEEP, SLOW breaths. Left Thigh

Repeat by pressing all of the points in sequence several times then read the suggestions below.

Hey!
Is this supposed to work?

No relief?   Try these suggestions:

1. Check to be certain that you started by selecting the image that best matches the location of pain on your body.  If you can find an image that is a better match try pressing those points.  If your pain moves to a new location after you press the first set of points go back to the previous page, select the image that best matches the new pain location, and try using the new points.

2. Check the general area around the point location by gently pressing to find the most sensitive spot.  Pressing on the most sensitive spot in the area will usually give you the best results.
3. Follow the proper techniques for pressing the points. Press hard enough to feel a connection and then breathe in and out slowly three times while pressing for at least 15 to 30 seconds.  If you do not get any results you should try pressing hard enough that it is quite intense but, please don’t injure yourself.  Breathe into the pain and slowly move the area of the body that you are trying to treat. Take a two minute break and try again.

4. Try points in the same areas but, in a different sequence.  Press both GB 34 points at the same time and then both Lower 3 Yellows points at the same time.

5. Select another pain location image that is located close to the pain location on your body. Try using these related point selections to see if you get better results
6. Contact an acupuncturist and make an appointment.  If you often have severe menstrual cramps with your period an individualized diagnosis and professional treatments may be necessary to resolve your condition.

Your site came up on a Google search when I was looking for 'right upper quadrant or diaphragmatic pain without tenderness nor gi symptoms.' Anyway, your site is so clearly and systematically laid out that I was able to locate my symptoms on your diagram, then find and press the two points, but I had little expectation that it would actually help since the soreness & pain had been bothering me for several weeks. Surprise! Pretty much complete relief (in 80 to 90% range), with just one treatment. Thank you so much for the great service you are doing. - Marshall Zaslove MD
